THE North Bellarine Film Festival will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Stanley Kramer\u2019s On the Beach with a special screening of the cult 1959 drama next week.<\/p>\n
On Saturday May 4, the screening will be shown with the Lawrence Johnston documentary, Fallout, that researches the film in the context of the times, exploring the politics and social history of the 1950s.<\/p>\n
The double feature will be screened in the Portarlington Neighbourhood House from 7pm, with refreshments served at interval.<\/p>\n
On the Beach was made in Melbourne and adapted for the screen from the best-selling book by Nevil Shute. It tells the apocalyptic story of nuclear war and its aftermath.<\/p>\n
The film stars Gregory Peck, Ava Gardner, Fred Astaire and Anthony Perkins.<\/p>\n
The North Bellarine Film Festival will be screening later this year from November 15-17 in Drysdale and Portarlington. Updates are published on the festival website.<\/p>\n
