\nPORTARLINGTON will be looking to replicate its first half against Newcomb on Good Friday for all of its traditional Anzac Day meeting with Drysdale. The Demons, who had been on the end of consecutive 100-point losses to open the season, led the Power by 13 points at half time, keeping the ladder leaders to just two goals in the first half. However, Portarlington was unable to go the distance with Newcomb and suffered a 36-point loss to remain winless. The Hawks produced a disappointing performance against Anglesea at Alcoa Oval as they were thumped by 77 points. Co-coaches Daniel Jull and Luke Matthews will have decisions to make on whether they bring back off-season recruits Jarrod Garth (ankle), Lauchie Dalgleish (calf) and Jesse Lothian (hamstring) or wait until the Round 5 meeting with Torquay.

The Power overcame a slow start to beat Portarlington by 36 points, with fours goal from Andrew Mead -Harding and another impressive midfield performance from James Hussey proving vital. Unbelievably, last year\u2019s wooden spooner is the only undefeated team after three rounds. Ammos did what many teams won\u2019t do in 2019, and that is win at Howard Harmer Oval. Star forward Mitch Day played the hero when he kicked a goal after the siren to give the visitors a two-point win. Youngster Wade McSparron was also crucial in arguably his best game for the club.

The Roos spearhead has kicked 23 goals in the opening three rounds \u2013 including eight in the 77-point demolition of Drysdale – to move 14 clear of his nearest rivals on the BFL goalkicking table. Torquay let a golden opportunity to continue its recent hold over Modewarre slip on Good Friday. Leading by 27 points at half time and 14 points at three-quarter time, the Tigers were swamped by the Warriors in the final term, with the visitors piling on eight goals to just the one behind. One positive for Torquay was the debut of Williamstown premiership player Cam Lockwood, who kicked three goals.

Queenscliff was able to hold off a fastfinishing Ocean Grove to open its 2019 account, while Barwon Heads was in front when the final siren sounded against Geelong Amateur, only to see Ammos spearhead Mitch Day calmly slot a goal from 40m out to give the visitors a two-point win. The Coutas will be hoping to get back talented young ruckman Michael Randone from a concussion, but club great Tom Limb is likely to miss another week with a hamstring issue. The Seagulls had the better of Queenscliff in both meetings last year, including a 100-point hiding in Round 5.

\nA LONG-term injury suffered by co-coach Seamus Orr has taken some of the shine off Modewarre\u2019s come-from-behind win over Torquay on Good Friday. The quality defender underwent surgery last Saturday night after suffering a dislocated wrist during the third quarter at McCartney Oval. The Warriors will be chasing a third consecutive win when they host Ocean Grove in AFL Victoria\u2019s Game of the Month. Unfortunately, when the match was given that moniker, no one expected the Grubbers would be winless after suffering their second four-point loss in the opening three rounds. Trailing Queenscliff by 19 points, Ocean Grove kicked 2.6 in the final term at Ray Menzies Oval. Former Geelong Falcon Logan Taylor was a standout with three goals.
