THE Borough of Queenscliffe is complementing the Fisherman\u2019s Wharf redevelopment project with a range of land management activities in nearby streets.<\/p>\n
These activities have four main elements, comprising a new shared path connection for the Bellarine Rail Trail, a change in traffic flows from Larkin Parade, bollards and parking restrictions in Larkin Parade, and new vehicle management arrangements, including parking, at the end of Bridge Street.<\/p>\n
These works will improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists using the Rail Trail, increase neighbourhood amenity to complement the upgrades at Fisherman\u2019s Wharf, and create a safer traffic treatment for vehicles on Bridge Street and Larkin Parade.<\/p>\n
Subject to funding from Regional Roads Victoria as part of the Fixing Country Roads program, the Borough expects that the project should be delivered by June 30.<\/p>\n
Council advertised the tender for the project on April 17 in order to meet this deadline.<\/p>\n
The tender closes on May 9, which will allow for completion by June 30 to meet the requirements of the council\u2019s funding agreement.<\/p>\n
The tender allows for flexibility and modification of the design that will be informed by the current community consultation.<\/p>\n
Residents were informed on April 18 to seek their feedback on the proposed design.<\/p>\n
Council notes the key concern of local residents focuses on maintaining current parking arrangements at the northern end of Bridge Street.<\/p>\n
A key consideration of council officers is the safe operation of council waste collection trucks in this vicinity.<\/p>\n
Council officers most recently met with local residents to discuss the project on April 24, and will continue to meet with local residents to achieve a positive outcome in relation to this and any other relevant matters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
