Noah\u2019s Ark provides therapy and education for children with a disability or additional needs.<\/p>\n
Their specialists have backgrounds in speech pathology, occupational therapy, education, physiotherapy, psychology and social work and are known as key workers.<\/p>\n
Catherine, the mother of 5-year-old Callum, said that Noah\u2019s Ark had been a very valuable service for her son and her family.<\/p>\n
\u201cCallum is the youngest of three children and has been diagnosed with severe speech sound delay, and delay of fine motor skills.<\/p>\n
\u201cCallum\u2019s key workers have all been instrumental in his developmental progress since commencing with the Noah\u2019s Ark program nearly 12 months ago.\u201d<\/p>\n
Due to change in life circumstances, Callum has had three different key workers.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been a positive advantage as each has brought a different perspective and skill set to aid his development,\u201d Catherine said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSarah, our initial key worker, visited him at kinder to gain a picture of his interaction with his peers and met with the kinder teacher and myself to develop goals for both home and kinder so we could all be on the same page!<\/p>\n
\u201cChloe, his next key worker channelled her skills to his interest of Lego, incorporating whichever letter we were focusing on in speech at that time.<\/p>\n
\u201cHis current worker Simon has brought another dimension to his learning, promoting visual aids to assist his sound development by channelling Callum\u2019s current interest of using magnetic letters.\u201d<\/p>\n
Catherine was unaware programs like Noah\u2019s Ark existed, let alone that she would be eligible for any government assistance.<\/p>\n
\u201cI wasn\u2019t sure his issues were significant enough to qualify, it has been a rewarding and beneficial journey for both of us.\u201d<\/p>\n
