FOR professional dancer Hilton Denis, work is a creative adventure more than it is a job.<\/p>\n
Shooting to stardom after making the top 20 on the first season of So You Think You Can Dance Australia over a decade ago, the multi-faceted performer from Sydney has spent the last six years touring with entertainment company, Strut & Fret.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo You Think You Can Dance was definitely a breakthrough. It got me a lot of exposure because it was televised nationally and from then on it was just booking gigs and dancing for artists,\u201d Hilton said. \u201cI\u2019ve been performing with Strut & Fret for six years and doing Spiegeltent shows all around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Heading to Geelong for the first time this month as part of Scott Maidment\u2019s Limbo, Hilton has been travelling with the cast since its inception in 2013 and has seen its popularity grow from country to country.<\/p>\n
The Aurora Spiegeltent will make its debut in Geelong on May 30 at Johnstone Park, a venue Hilton describes as \u201ciconic\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s such a unique venue. The wooden d\u00e9cor and all the mirrors inside create such a nice and beautiful environment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s something different and something that was new to me, like a new world of circus and performing. At Spiegeltent, you\u2019re mixing different styles of dance and it\u2019s a good, creative journey.\u201d<\/p>\n
Responsible for most of his own choreography, Hilton\u2019s main act \u2013 solo tapdancing \u2013 is a culmination of skills he\u2019s developed since he first started dancing at age nine.<\/p>\n
A fast-paced and mind-blowing collaboration of dance, music, acrobatics and theatre, Limbo has a reputation for leaving audiences lost for words.<\/p>\n
