Urban freestyle, parkour and dance will come together in a new theatre experience Jump First, Ask Later, a story about facing obstacles and finding ways to conquer them coming to the Geelong Performing Arts Centre this month.<\/p>\n
Presented as part of GPAC\u2019s \u201cCreative Learning\u201d program, Jump First, Ask Later is a high-energy representation of the urban lifestyle, featuring members from Dauntless Movement Crew (DMC) and directed by acclaimed choreographer Byron Perry.<\/p>\n
Geelong Performing Arts Centre CEO Joel McGuiness said he is thrilled to be bringing the exciting and fast-paced show to Geelong.<\/p>\n
\u201cDauntless Movement Crew are just incredible performers and the show\u2019s themes will really resonate with young people and their families,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
The multi-awarding winning production tells the stories of six young champions of underground parkour \u2013 the process of moving creatively through running, jumping, and climbing\u2013 and street-style community.<\/p>\n
DMC is a movement-based team that combines art forms such as tricking, b-boying (breakdancing), parkour, acrobatics, circus stunts and fire tricks.The performers are all aged 18 to 26.<\/p>\n
DMC has featured in films including Fat Pizza Vs Houses and Kingsman, as well as commercials and live television appearances.<\/p>\n
Jump First, Ask Later tells audiences of performers\u2019 individual journeys, their personal challenges and triumphs, and how each came to be involved in this \u201cstreet-meets-sport-meets-art\u201d way of life.<\/p>\n
See Jump First, Ask Later at GPAC on Tuesday May 28 at 7pm. Tickets are $20 for students and $35 for adults.<\/p>\n
