Recent landscaping works at Seachange Estate in St Leonards has seen the installation of eight massive 13-metre-high Canary Island date palm trees down the central median of the entry boulevard.<\/p>\n
These large specimens were transported to the site each on their own semi-trailer and then had to be craned into position, with planting taking three days.<\/p>\n
Phoenix canariensis is a tree which is synonymous with coastal areas, including lining the foreshore at Eastern Beach in Geelong and also Beaconsfield Parade in Melbourne.<\/p>\n
They are extremely slow growing with the specimens recently planted at Seachange estimated to be over 30 years old.<\/p>\n
The recent palm installation at Seachange continues the theme from the adjoining older stages which were developed in the early 2,000s where 20 palms line the reserves along Leviens Road.<\/p>\n
According to developer Ross Closter from Urban Land Developments, the palms add a real sense of quality and prestige to the estate.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe always invest heavily in our landscaping for the benefit of the future owners of the lots,\u201d Mr Closter said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCan you imagine how relaxing it would be driving home every day, turning into your estate and driving down a palm tree lined boulevard?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cAppropriately, the new entry road is named \u2018Palm View Boulevard\u2019 where thanks to seven acres of wetlands the palms can be seen from a long way away.\u201d<\/p>\n
Seachange Estate has been a highly successful project with over 550 lots now sold, 500 of which were sold in only 14 months, with Stages 1-3 now complete and titles expected to be issued shortly.<\/p>\n
Selling agent Trevor McManus from Neville Richards Real Estate said there were a limited number of lots remaining in stage 11B where prices still start from $199,950.<\/p>\n
\u201cI encourage anyone who is interested to buy now and beat the price rise in the soon to be released stage 12,\u201d Mr McManus said.<\/p>\n
