THE City of Greater Geelong Council has endorsed the appointment of six new members to the Women in Community Life Advisory Committee, bringing the total number of members to 12.<\/p>\n
The City welcomes Lynne Beaumont, Emma Cvitak, Rachel Drady, Emily Kerr, Soraya Mobayad and Kara Tieman to the committee, for a term ending no later than March 31, 2021.<\/p>\n
Christine Couzens, Shurlee Swain, Jeni Wills, Stevie Van der Chys, Erica Wastell and Simone Stevens are the current members of the committee. The committee started in 2013 to advise council on matters relating to women\u2019s participation, representation and leadership in community life.<\/p>\n
The WiCLAC is proactively focused on delivering positive outcomes of equality, inclusion and respect for women across the region.<\/p>\n
Women in Community Life Advisory Committee Chair and CoGG councillor, Sarah Mansfield, said these appointments would help tap into the depth of talent in our community when it came to issues of gender equity.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe six women we\u2019ve appointed are really outstanding, and I\u2019m excited to see where we can now take this committee in the future,\u201d Cr Mansfield said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey\u2019re voluntary positions, so it\u2019s pleasing that women in the community are prepared to put themselves forward and want to be engaged with local government to assist us on these issues.<\/p>\n
\u201cCongratulations to all six women on being appointed\u201d.<\/p>\n
Mayor Bruce Harwood said it was wonderful to see these intelligent and experienced women join the Women in Community Life Advisory Committee.<\/p>\n
