{"id":24078,"date":"2019-05-22T14:39:09","date_gmt":"2019-05-22T14:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=24078"},"modified":"2019-05-22T21:29:38","modified_gmt":"2019-05-22T21:29:38","slug":"bellarine-bears-starting-to-find-form","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/sport\/bellarine-bears-starting-to-find-form\/","title":{"rendered":"Bellarine Bears starting to find form"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>IT was a fairly successful weekend for the Bears in this week\u2019s baseball, with A-grade back in the winner\u2019s circle and season first wins to A-Reserve and the C-grade (Red).<\/p>\n<p>The new look Ballarat Royals made the trip to Wallington for the A-grade and A-reserve games.<\/p>\n<p>It was a tight tussle in A-grade with scores even after four innings with Josh Crotty pitching.<\/p>\n<p>The Royals looked like they may get on top in the 5th with two out and bases loaded, but Simon Murray came on to close out the inning.<\/p>\n<p>The Bears came back with four runs in the 5th to get on top.<\/p>\n<p>Coach Lewis Weldon pitched a scoreless last inning to finish the game and this leaves A-grade on top of the ladder.<\/p>\n<p>A-reserve notched up their first win of the season with a more settled side.<\/p>\n<p>Pat Brackley pitched well to keep Ballarat to one run through four innings.<\/p>\n<p>The Bears managed to score three with some hits and walks and were leading 3-1 after 4.<\/p>\n<p>Brad Hockey came on to close out the game for the bears but just one loose pitch was enough to give up a three-run bomb to put pressure on the juniors in the side, including Cooper Tipping in his first senior game coming up to bat.<\/p>\n<p>Several walks and a hit loaded up the bases and a single to Matt Sage allowed two to score and get the Bears across the line 5-4.<\/p>\n<p>C-grade Red also got their first win of the season 14-2 with some emphatic batting away at Saints.
