SOONER or later it had to happen and for State League 4 competition leaders Surf Coast, the bubble was well and truly broken at Arndell Park Reserve last Saturday after losing its first game of the season to the always difficult Truganina Hornets.<\/p>\n
The Coasters took the lead on 38 minutes after sharpshooter Matt Linney converted from the penalty spot \u2013 his 7th goal of a productive season thus far.<\/p>\n
Incredibly, Linney has scored in every game this season bar one against North Melbourne Athletic in Round 5.<\/p>\n
The home side equalised through Elton Savice in the 75th minute, likewise from the penalty spot before Amgad Agak netted the matchwinner in the 86th minute.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was certainly not our best day. We’ve been playing really well for so long so we were due a slip up at some point, I guess,\u201d a disappointed Coasters\u2019 assistant coach Rob Casha said this week.<\/p>\n
The Coasters will now need to regroup before this Saturday\u2019s chance to redeem themselves in the battle for the top spot against new competition pacesetters Altona North at home.<\/p>\n
\u201cPut simply, our focus this week has been getting back to training and regrouping, refocusing and moving on to the Altona game this weekend,\u201d revealed Casha.<\/p>\n
Kick off for Saturday\u2019s big battle will be at Banyul Warri Reserve at 3pm.<\/p>\n
The senior women\u2019s team returns to action in Geelong Region Division 2 this Saturday after having a week off due to a bye last weekend.<\/p>\n
The Coasters are sitting in second spot on the ladder, on equal points to current leaders North Geelong but with a slightly inferior goal difference.<\/p>\n
The Coasters will host 8th placed Drysdale SC on the synthetic pitch at Banyul Warri Reserve this Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
According to coach Mariela Pocklington, the team is eager to get back on the field following the enforced break.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are looking forward to getting back out on the pitch after having a bye,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe won\u2019t be underestimating our opponents Drysdale, however, because even though they are sitting in 8th spot on the ladder, they will still prove to be tough opponents no doubt on the day.<\/p>\n
