THE 2020 and 2021 Victorian Lifesaving State Championship events have been locked in, with the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club getting the nod for two of the events.<\/p>\n
Lorne SLSC will host the Victorian Youth\/ Senior State Championships for the next two years.<\/p>\n
U14 to Open athletes will compete on the beach and in the water at Lorne SLSC over the weekend of March 21-22, 2020, and again in 2021 with dates to be confirmed.<\/p>\n
Lorne SLSC president Paul McMaster welcomed last week\u2019s announcement.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re very happy to be host to the Victorian Youth\/Senior State Championships for the next two years,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can\u2019t wait to let the friendly rivalry begin on our home turf.\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Warrnambool SLSC will host the Victorian Junior State Championships over the March Labour Day long weekend (March 7-9, 2020 and March 6-8, 2021) for the next two years.<\/p>\n
For the first time, the event will be trialled over a three-day format.<\/p>\n
Almost 1,500 junior lifesavers will travel to Victoria\u2019s south-west coast to compete in the annual event, giving the coastal town a boost in visitor numbers from athletes, as well as their support crews, coaches and team managers.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very proud of the Warrnambool SLSC to again be entrusted with this major event,\u201d Warrnambool City Council manager of visitor economy David McMahon said.<\/p>\n
\u201cCouncil acknowledged the hard work and thousands of hours that go into preparing for and hosting these championships and we will again support LSV and the Club to ensure they continue to grow.<\/p>\n
