Metricon Homes is proud to announce its support of the Mayday Appeal to provide assistance to local Geelong families.<\/p>\n
For every home that Metricon sells in the Geelong region in May, it will donate $500 to the Mayday Appeal. The goal is to present a cheque to the foundation next month, and the initiative is well on track with an anticipated fundraising total of $15,000.<\/p>\n
Metricon\u2019s manager for Regional West, Simon Taylor, who is based at Metricon\u2019s Geelong office, said that the Mayday Appeal was all about a community looking after its own. \u201cMetricon understands that loving where you live is not simply about the home you live in, but also about the community you live in, so partnering to support this great appealis a natural fit. We\u2019re proud to support a local initiative that is supporting the communities that our customers and employees live in, and we look forward to seeing how families who receive this much-needed support will be able to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Mayday Appeal is a major fundraiser organised by the Give Where You Live Foundation, an organisation that works to address one of the most complex and entrenched social issues in the Geelong region \u2013 disadvantage.<\/p>\n
An annual appeal, it calls on families to donate $1 a day in May to support another local family, whether they\u2019re in need of a safe place to sleep, are struggling to get or keep a job, or don\u2019t have access to fresh or nutritious food.<\/p>\n
