THE Borough of Queenscliffe says it stands ready to work with the federal government and its new local Member of Parliament, Libby Coker, to deliver the commitments they made to the community.<\/p>\n
During the election campaign, candidates from both major parties recognised that the communities of Queenscliff and Point Lonsdale needed federal government support to deliver projects of critical importance.<\/p>\n
Candidates from both major parties committed to funding $1.45 million grant allocation under the Building Better Regions Program for the Queenscliffe Cultural Hub, and $650,000 grant allocation under the Building Better Regions Program, as well as an election commitment of an additional $600,000 towards a new clubhouse for the Point Lonsdale Surf Life Saving Club.<\/p>\n
Borough of Queenscliffe mayor Cr Bob Merriman said committees to oversee the planning of the projects were now established and working hard.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe community and Council were keen to see the projects start as soon as possible,\u201d Mr Merriman said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was very positive to see both political parties commit to funding both the Hub and the Surf Life Saving Club because they understood how important they are to our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr Merriman said the Borough of Queenscliffe congratulated Libby Coker on her election as the new member for Corangamite, and extended his thanks to the outgoing member, Sarah Henderson, for her advocacy and support over the past six years.<\/p>\n
The Borough of Queenscliffe will continue to work with the federal government to deliver the commitments made in the City Deal for Geelong, including funding for a new ferry terminal at Queenscliff.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
