City endorses Waterfront Safe
\nHarbour plan<\/p>\n
THE City of Greater Geelong council has endorsed the Waterfront Safe Harbour Precinct Master Plan, following communit consultation. This decision means $3 million in council funding, as well as state government funding will be released to the Royal Geelong Yacht Club (RGYC), and the planning approval process can start. The $19.1 million first stage of the project will include the wave attenuator, new RGYC marina berths, a Sailing School building and public area improvements.<\/p>\n
Basketball associations to merge<\/p>\n
BASKETBALL Geelong and the Corio Bay Basketball Association have reached an inprinciple agreement \u201cto join forces for the betterment of all aspects relating to basketball in the Geelong region\u201d. Areas of focus in the merger will include competition quality (representative and domestic), referee\/coach development and support, facility improvement and future stadium development. It is anticipated the combining of the two organisations will be \u201cseamless from a player\u2019s perspective\u201d and will be in place for the coming summer season.<\/p>\n
EPA to hold conference about Bannockburn composting plant<\/p>\n
ENVIRONMENT Protection Authority Victoria (EPA) will hold a community conference at Bannockburn next week to discuss the proposal from Advanced Composting Technologies of Australasia Pty Ltd for a static pile composting plant. The proposed plant would receive and process 50,000 cubic metres of organic waste a year into compost. The conference will be held at the Barwon Room, Bannockburn Cultural Centre, 24 High Street, Bannockburn,n on Thursday, June 13 from 6.45 9pm, with an optional drop-in information session to begin at 6pm.
