ORGANISERS of Queenscliffe Bricks 2019 at the weekend say they were blown away by the community\u2019s involvement.<\/p>\n
\u201cMore than 3,100 Lego enthusiasts enjoyed the wide range of exhibits, play area and masterclasses at Queenscliffe Bricks,\u201d Karen Pecar from Rotary Club of Queenscliffe said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis year, 34 exhibitors from as far away as Tasmania and Mount Gambier brought exhibits ranging from Lego puzzles, Star Wars to ski fields, bugs to books, dresses to dragons and everything in between.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ms Pecar said local Future Lego Master Builder winner Thomas McGregor, 10, exhibited his Custom Chevy C10 with (very cute) dog in the back, and the other winners were Adam Matthews and Tom Winter with their huge build Incident City Queenscliff, which took out both the People\u2019s Choice and Exhibitors\u2019 Choice Awards. She said they transformed sleepy Queenscliff into a disaster zone requiring all sorts of intervention from the military and emergency services.<\/p>\n
The community event run by the Rotary Club of Queenscliffe raised more than $20,000.<\/p>\n
This year major beneficiaries are ShelterBox disaster relief, Barwon Health\u2019s Volunteers Patient Transport service and Rotary\u2019s End Polio Now initiative.<\/p>\n
\u201cLego guru Travis Matheson again worked his Lego magic in the Masterclasses, introducing physics to the participants and supervising some amazing tower builds and one epic demolition,\u201d Ms Pecar said.<\/p>\n
