{"id":25276,"date":"2019-06-26T03:53:34","date_gmt":"2019-06-26T03:53:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=25276"},"modified":"2019-06-26T13:02:26","modified_gmt":"2019-06-26T13:02:26","slug":"sporting-clubs-share-in-funding-to-help-empower-girls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/sporting-clubs-share-in-funding-to-help-empower-girls\/","title":{"rendered":"Sporting clubs share in funding to help empower girls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>FOUR local sporting clubs will share in more than $750,000 in funding from VicHealth.<\/p>\n<p>Barwon Heads Bowls Club, Clifton Springs Bowls Club, St Leonards Yacht Club and Motor Squadron and Portarlington Cricket Club have received a total of $16,000 to create more opportunities for women and girls to get active by offering new female teams or programs and providing equipment to ensure clubs can grow with their community.<\/p>\n<p>The grants will also support clubs to introduce social, flexible and accessible sports programs to empower more people in the community to give sport a go regardless of their ability, gender or cultural background.<\/p>\n<p>Bellarine MP Lisa Neville said it was fantastic there would now be more activities, teams and opportunities for the&nbsp; community to get involved in sport.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActive Club Grants will help create more opportunities for people of all ages, genders and abilities to get active and enjoy the benefits of a healthy lifestyle,\u201d Ms Neville said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTaking part in community sport is a great way to make new friends and get active with others while also improving your own health and wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI encourage everyone in the Bellarine to look at what opportunities are available for them to get involved.<\/p>\n<p>Ms Neville said she welcomed this latest round of funding to make getting active easier for everyone, while supporting the clubs and associations that contribute so much to our great community.<\/p>\n<p>Building on the success of VicHealth\u2019s This Girl Can \u2013 Victoria campaign, 61 clubs across Victoria will also receive funding to promote the campaign as part of a state-wide movement to get more women active.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FOUR local sporting clubs will share in more than $750,000 in funding from VicHealth.
