The Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has announced that the count for the election of six Senators for Victoria has been completed.<\/p>\n
The successful candidates for the six Senate vacancies for Victoria are (in order of their election):<\/p>\n
\u2022 James Paterson – Liberal
\n\u2022 Raffaele Ciccone – Australian Labor Party
\n\u2022 Jane Hume – Liberal
\n\u2022 Jess Walsh – Australian Labor Party
\n\u2022 Janet Rice \u2013 The Green
\n\u2022 David Van – Liberal<\/p>\n
Derryn Hinch\u2019s Justice Party leader Derryn Hinch sought re-election but could not hang onto his seat, nor did Labor Senator Gavin Marshall. Ms Walsh and Mr Van are the two new senators that replace them.<\/p>\n
Australian Electoral Officer for Victoria Steve Kennedy said the distribution of preferences was conducted on June 19.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs with all aspects of the count, the automated distribution of preferences undertaken today was open to scrutineers appointed by the candidates.\u201d<\/p>\n
