Award-winning production the Guru of Chai is heading to the Geelong Performing Arts Centre on July 31.<\/p>\n
Created by New Zealand\u2019s Indian Ink Theatre Company, the one-man show will grace Geelong audiences as part of the 2019 Deakin University Theatre Season.<\/p>\n
Described as \u201coutrageously funny\u201d yet \u201cheartbreakingly beautiful\u201d, the Guru of Chai \u2013 written by Jacob Rajan and Justin Lewis \u2013 juxtaposes a classic Indian fairytale with modern-day challenges in a must-see display of storytelling.<\/p>\n
Rajan plays Kutisar, a buck-toothed poor chai-wallah (teamaker) with little money but an infectious charisma.<\/p>\n
Kutisar\u2019s life is changed forever when a young girl whose been abandoned at a busy railway station begins singing and attracts a crowd.<\/p>\n
Geelong Performing Arts Centre chief executive officer Joel McGuinness said he was thrilled to be bringing the
\ninternational production to Geelong audiences.<\/p>\n

The Guru of Chai is strengthened by a live soundtrack from award-winning multi-instrumentalist Adam Ogle who plays the banjo, drum machine and even a plastic bag.<\/p>\n
