QUEENSCLIFF Gallery and Workshop in partnership with Graeme Peebles has announced the 39 finalists for this year\u2019s Peebles Print Prize.<\/p>\n
Each artist who submitted an artwork to PPP19 met the terms and conditions of the criteria, which proved a difficult task for the prize\u2019s preliminary judges when creating the annual shortlist.<\/p>\n
Entries were judged on how the work considered and celebrated the intaglio technique, the percentage of intaglio technique used, and the execution of the overall work.<\/p>\n
Preliminary selection was undertaken by Graeme Peebles in collaboration with the QG&W directors.<\/p>\n
The inaugural PPP was launched in 2017, providing an opportunity for budding printmakers to hone their craft in a supportive learning environment.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s prize will align with the Geelong Gallery Acquisitive Print Award (GGAPA), forging a strong pathway for Australian printmakers.<\/p>\n
The winner of this year\u2019s award will receive cash in hand as well as return economy airfares, accommodation and one week of art\/print courses at Scuola Grafica, Venice. The prize is valued at $6,000.<\/p>\n
Other recognitions include the highly commended award ($2,000) and the people\u2019s choice award ($500).<\/p>\n
Judging the PPP19 will be master printer Bill Young and Geelong Gallery director Jason Smith. The exhibition will open on September 21 and run until November 24.<\/p>\n
