Mansfield artist Wendy Jagger has recently returned from an artist residency at BigCi in the Blue Mountains.<\/p>\n
Surrounded by the landscapes of Wollemi and the Gardens of Stone National Park, and often painting \u201cen
\nplain air\u201d, Wendy\u2019s response to these unique landscapes will be shown for the first time in a solo exhibition in August at The Hive Gallery in Ocean Grove.<\/p>\n
Wendy says she \u201cloves the immediacy of being in the landscape and seeing the forms, colours and textures of nature and responding to its ever-changing weather, light and moods\u201d.<\/p>\n
Back in the studio, these paintings are further developed and form the backdrop for her renowned, porcelain vessels.<\/p>\n
Wendy\u2019s award-winning porcelain has been exhibited internationally in Mino, Japan where she received an Honourable Mention as a finalist in the Ninth International Ceramics Festival.<\/p>\n
Closer to home, Wendy exhibited in the foyer of Geelong Gallery, as well as creating the 150th Anniversary commemorative vessels for the NGV shop in 2011.<\/p>\n
Hive curator Karen Spreadborough states she is \u201cdelighted to introduce another new, but well-established artist to the Bellarine Peninsula for locals to experience her high-calibre work on both porcelain and canvas, inspired by the beautiful Blue Mountains region.\u201d<\/p>\n
Supported by Regional Arts Victoria, the exhibition will run from the opening on August 3 between 2pm and 4pm until September 1 at The Hive Gallery, 41 Smithton Grove, Ocean Grove.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
