SPORTS clubs on the Bellarine can now apply for a share in around $500,000 in VicHealth funding to get more Victorians active and playing sport.
\nThe latest round of VicHealth\u2019s Active Club Grants provides funding of up to $3,000 or up to $10,000 to community sport clubs to create more opportunities to play sport as well as social or modified sport options.
\nMember for Bellarine Lisa Neville encouraged local clubs to apply for the funding to help them create more opportunities for local residents to become more active and improve their health.
\nClubs applying for Active Club Grants funding can also request an additional $2,000 grant to promote VicHealth\u2019s This Girl Can \u2013 Victoria campaign to encourage women in their local community to get active.
\nClubs are encouraged to apply for the funding grants through the VicHealth website before round one closes on Friday August 30 2019 at 4pm.

\nMeanwhile, drivers travelling along the Bellarine Highway are enjoying a much smoother and safer journey thanks to the completion of significant upgrade works.
\nMs Neville announced last week that about 15 kilometres of the highway had been upgraded as part of the Labor Government\u2019s $84 million investment in south western Victoria.
\n\u201cThe Bellarine Highway is a key route for people travelling between Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula \u2013 it\u2019s important that it can deliver more safe and reliable journeys,\u201d Ms Neville said.
\n\u201cThese works have given the highway a vital uplift \u2013 the community will notice the difference on their daily commute.\u201d
\nAbout 2.7 kilometres of the highway\u2019s Queenscliff-bound carriageway has been completely rebuilt between Whitehorse Road to Clifton Avenue and Melaluka Road to Christies Road to improve the strength and quality of these busy sections for the 12,000 people who travel it daily.
\nResealing works were also completed on about 5.5 kilometres of the highway at Moolap, Newcomb and Wallington to protect the road and provide drivers with a smoother surface.
\nAbout two kilometres of important asphalt repairs were completed across ten sections of McKillop St\/Bellarine Highway between Latrobe Terrace and Lomond Terrace, including the busy intersections along this route.
\nIn addition, about 5.3 kilometres of the highway was resurfaced at Leopold and Moolap.
\nThese works were delivered by Regional Roads Victoria.
