Visitors will have the chance to learn all about the weird and wonderful marine creatures that call Port Phillip home when the Queenscliff Marine Science Centre hosts a free Community Day on Sunday August 11.
\nThe marine science research and teaching facility will open its doors to visitors between 10am and 2pm as part of National Science Week.<\/p>\n

Marine science educator Dr Prue Francis from Deakin\u2019s School of Life and Environmental Sciences said the Community Day gives visitors a great opportunity to get up close to the fascinating sea creatures that live close to our shores.
\n\u201cDeakin University along with the Victorian Fisheries Authority are excited to invite the community into our facilities and learn about the amazing marine environment that surrounds Queenscliff and the broader Bellarine Peninsula,\u2019 Dr Francis said.
\n\u201cVisitors can explore the aquarium exhibits at the Marine and Freshwater Discovery Centre, including a hands-on encounter with some of the marine creatures commonly encountered on a rock rambling walk.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is also the opportunity to learn about local marine research projects in short talks from marine scientists and local community groups.\u201d
