QUEENSCLIFFE Mayor Bob Merriman has been recognised for Council\u2019s support of the Queenscliff Sea Scouts and was presented with the prestigious Scouts Victoria State Scarf in that honour.
\nCr Merriman praised young members of the community for their importance to the future of the Borough at the 1st Queenscliff Sea Scout Group annual report and presentation night.
\n\u201cThe future of the Borough belongs to the young people in this community, so it\u2019s important that we recognise their achievements and activities undertaken,\u201d Cr Merriman said.
\nThe night had a special connection to Cr Merriman, who was also a Sea Scout in his youth, and he holds fond memories of his time spent in Scouts and the friends made throughout.
\n\u201cBeing a Scout offers you lifelong learnings and skills such as leadership, teamwork, problem solving and communication,\u201d Cr Merriman said.
\n\u201cThese are such important skills to carry with you in life.\u201d
\nThe Queenscliff Sea Scouts, who meet two nights a week at the Queenscliff Community Hall, provide a safe and fun environment for boys and girls aged 7-17 to learn valuable life skills around practical outdoor activities.
