{"id":27150,"date":"2019-08-29T03:00:02","date_gmt":"2019-08-28T17:00:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=27150"},"modified":"2019-08-29T11:33:26","modified_gmt":"2019-08-29T01:33:26","slug":"local-firefighters-acknowledged-for-years-of-service","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/local-firefighters-acknowledged-for-years-of-service\/","title":{"rendered":"Local firefighters acknowledged for years of service"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Ocean Grove Fire Brigade recently held its annual dinner for 2019 to acknowledge long-time supporters of the brigade.<br \/>\nThe dinner was well attended with firefighters, families, friends, surrounding brigades and guests, and a highlight of the night was recognition for CFA service awards.<br \/>\nGary Claringbold received recognition for five years, Jayden Harrison-Roberts, Craig Cann and Andrew Cooper for 10 years, Peter Baxter, Neil Hickman and Carolyn Hickman for 15 years, Martin Geerings and Adam Thompson for 20 years, Steven Gibbs for 25 years, Doug Pearce for a 50-year life medal and Ivan Lee for a 70-year life medal, which was presented by Minister for Police and Emergency Services Lisa Neville.<br \/>\nTwo National Medal presentations also occurred, with a National Medal awarded to Martin Geerings and a National Medal 3rd Clasp awarded to Doug Pearce.<br \/>\nThe brigade also recognised other efforts within its service which included Simon Simpson receiving Firefighter of the Year, Tierney Scott and Luke Hibbins-Leece both received encouragement awards, Neil Hickman for his contribution to all aspects of Brigade activities and Doug Pearce received the RSL award for significant community contribution.<br \/>\nPeter Baxter received an honourable mention for his unique skill set.<br \/>\nGuests included Ms Neville, Commissioner for Emergency Management Victoria Andrew Crisp, Chair of the Country Fire Authority Greg Smith, and other CFA members, Assistant Chief Officer Rohan Luke and Commander Ian Beswicke.<br \/>\nThe brigade would like to thank the community for its ongoing support and remind people that even though it\u2019s still winter, only current working smoke alarms in buildings save lives.<br \/>\nIf you ever considered being a firefighter, visit cfa.vic.gov.au\/volunteer-careers.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Ocean Grove Fire Brigade recently held its annual dinner for 2019 to acknowledge long-time supporters of the brigade.
