OCEAN Grove\u2019s Scarlett Sadler shared her plans for the future and her generation when she competed for the 2019 title of Junior Lord Mayor of Melbourne last week.
\nThe Our Lady Star of the Sea pupil joined five young students from across Victoria when she fronted a panel at Melbourne Town Hall, which included the City of Melbourne Lord Mayor Sally Capp herself.
\nSupported by 13cabs, the Junior Lord Mayor competition saw hundreds of applicants aged between 10-13 years old apply through their schools.
\nA carefully selected six were then chosen to compete for the respected position.
\nThe six finalists presented to a panel that included Ms Capp, 3AW Presenter Denis Walter, Melbourne Day Committee Chairman Campbell Walker, Channel 9\u2019s Allan Raskall, Claud Lombard Melbourne Day Committee and 13cabs\u2019 Head of Client Services, Simon Purssey.
\nEach finalist answered a selection of bespoke Melbourne Day questions, after which the overall winner was decided and crowned the Junior Lord Mayor for 2019.
\nThe winner was Sophie Peters from Montmorency South Primary School.
\nPanel Judge Mr Purssey said with Scarlett at the helm of the coastline, we had nothing to fear.
\n\u201cShe shared her dedication and love for food, Melbourne\u2019s multi-cultural makeup, and sport\u2026 she really covered all bases!\u201d he said.
\n\u201cShe spoke of the ballet, and how she wants more solar lights brightening up bike paths.
\n\u201cI look forward to watching Scarlett become her own icon of Melbourne, much like our cabs!
\n\u201cI commend her for being an incredible competitor in the 13cabs Junior Lord Mayor Challenge!
\n\u201cIt was not an easy ask, she did brilliantly.\u201d
