SURF Coast surfers Todd Rosewall and Bella Wilson have been crowned Victorian Open Champions over the weekend at the final round of the Victorian Open Series presented by HIF Australia, held at Jan Juc.<\/p>\n
With multiple surfers in the running for the coveted state title and a seven-day surf trip with the Perfect Wave Co. on the line, the action was fierce in some fun two- to three-foot waves at the popular Surf Coast beachbreak.<\/p>\n
With Cahill Bell-Warren and Harry Mann exiting the draw in the quarter finals, the path was cleared for Rosewall to take the title if he made the final of the round.<\/p>\n
The local surfer not only made the final but finished runner-up to score enough ratings points to claim the title.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m super happy to win the state title this year, the standard was incredibly high and to come away with a win is epic,\u201d an elated Rosewall said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have won a few junior state titles before but have been chasing an open title for a while now so it\u2019s super rewarding to finally get it.<\/p>\n
\u201cThanks to the Perfect Wave for putting up the Maldives Trip; I\u2019m looking forward to taking my dad with me and getting some sick waves.\u201d<\/p>\n
In the women\u2019s division, it was Jan Juc\u2019s Bella Wilson who went on to win her second straight Victorian Open Title.<\/p>\n
Wilson had a strong position in the ratings coming into the final event and required Phillip Island surfers Daisy Corbett and Sophie Fletcher to exit the draw early in the day.<\/p>\n
Luckily for Wilson, both surfers were eliminated in Round One allowing Wilson a clear path to the title.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m so happy to win the state title for the second year,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe surf trip to the Maldives should be so much fun, I can\u2019t wait to go.\u201d<\/p>\n
