Boat Ramp fees for boaters using Frankston\u2019s Kananook Creek and Olivers Hill boat ramps have been wiped, giving Victorians the chance to celebrate the beginning of the boating and fishing season at a reduced cost.<\/p>\n

Minister for Fishing and Boating Jaala Pulford joined Member for Frankston Paul Edbrooke and representatives from Frankston City Council to make the announcement, which will see boaters enjoy free access to the council\u2019s two public boat ramps.<\/p>\n

As part of its election commitment to make boating cheaper, easier and safer, the State Labor Government has now made almost all public boat ramps in Victoria free to use.<\/p>\n

Fishing and Boating Minister Jaala Pulford said the move was a win for Victorian families.<\/p>\n

She also called on the Borough of Queenscliffe and the City of Kingston to follow suit as Queenscliff and Mordialloc are the only public boat ramps that continue to charge parking and launching fees.<\/p>\n

Frankston mayor Michael O\u2019Reilly said council was pleased with the decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cCouncil is pleased to have made this decision to support the removal of boat ramp parking fees in time for snapper season \u2013 which is always a very popular time at our local boat ramps.\u201d<\/p>\n

Boaters are reminded that cars without trailers using Frankston boat ramps will continue to pay parking fees.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the government announced $47.2 million to implement a series of other recreational boating improvements, including upgrading six boats ramps and reviewing boating infrastructure management arrangements in Port Phillip and Western Port.<\/p>\n

Better Boating Victoria is overseeing the delivery of the government\u2019s boating commitments.<\/p>\n

It is also working towards removing parking and launching fees at all remaining publicly available boat ramps.<\/p>\n
