LOCAL community members gathered recently to celebrate the arrival of spring at The Point\u2019s annual community planting day.
\nMore than 40 volunteers worked together to plant more than 400 new seedlings within the existing vegetation area on the edge of the waterway opposite Cowry Way.
\nThis is the fourth year in a row Moremac Property Group has hosted the event in partnership with local environment group the Bellarine Catchment Network.
\nVolunteers were guided by two of the network\u2019s representatives, Neil Sutton and Felicity Thyer.
\nMoremac Property Group Project Director Doug Vallance said it was fantastic to see so many residents enthusiastic about giving back to their local community.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s great to see the community continuing to support this event and I\u2019d like to thank everyone involved,\u201d Mr Vallance said.
\nOnce all the hard work was complete, attendees relaxed in the community picnic area within the Cowry Way park on the edge of the waterway and enjoyed a complimentary barbeque lunch and coffee.
\nBellarine Catchment Network representative Neil Sutton said he was excited to be a part of this community driven project.
\n\u201cAll those that attended were passionate about supporting their local environment and worked hard to plant a lot of indigenous plants within just a few hours,\u201d Mr Sutton said.
\n\u201cWe\u2019ll be keeping an eye on this site and we should hopefully see significant growth over the next few months.\u201d
