SOME Surf Coast Suns junior netball players had the fortune of training with players from the Melbourne Vixens last week.<\/p>\n
Vixens vice-captain Tegan Philip and Emily Mannix, who was recently named in the Australia squad, both ran a session for the under 11 and 13 sides on September 17 in one of Netball Victoria’s Community Clinics.<\/p>\n
Surf Coast Suns Football and Netball Club president Michael Thomas said it was a great experience for the club’s junior netball players.<\/p>\n
“It was a terrific opportunity for the younger players to get exposure to top netballers and ask questions to see what it takes to progress to those next levels.<\/p>\n
“As a club we get great access to AFL players and clinics, it is terrific that Netball Victoria can do something similar for our ever growing and enthusiastic netball community.”<\/p>\n
The Suns won the clinic when their under 11 side and their families made a group booking to travel to Hisense Arena to watch the Vixens play in the Super Netball league.<\/p>\n
Suns netball vice president Amber Potter said she was delighted with how the club, which was only established in 2016, was progressing.<\/p>\n
“I couldn’t be any more pleased with how netball and young women in sport looks at our club.”<\/p>\n
