LOCAL refugee advocacy group Bellarine for Refugees has donated funds which will help encourage refugee youth to explore the many bike paths around the region.
\nBellarine for Refugees took great pleasure in presenting a cheque to Makot Wol, Youth Project Co-ordinator at Diversitat in Norlane, which will support Diversitat\u2019s Rideout Program.
\nForging connections with their new country and exploring the natural beauty it has to offer is an important part of helping young asylum seekers and refugees to feel more at home.
\n\u201cBellarine for Refugees and their supporters recognise the urgent need for assistance to support asylum seekers and refugees in our community,\u201d co-ordinator Helen Dwyer said.
\n\u201cPrograms such as this are invaluable in helping develop a sense of belonging and purpose for newly arrived youth.\u201d
\nDiversitat runs many programs to support Geelong\u2019s refugee communities and Bellarine for Refugees and their supporters are happy to be able to contribute to the very important work they do.
