A NEW shared path is making it easier and safer for people to walk and cycle between Queenscliff\u2019s famous ferry terminal and the town\u2019s centre.
\nMember for Bellarine Lisa Neville said the new link between Bridge Street and the Bellarine Rail Trail had been delivered by the Borough of Queenscliffe thanks to a $495,000 contribution from round one of the Fixing Country Roads Program.
\nThe new 90-metre sealed shared path provides a dedicated connection from the Queenscliff Ferry Terminal to the Bellarine Rail Trail via Bridge Street, improving safety for pedestrians and cyclists along this popular route.
\nMember for Bellarine Lisa Neville said the state government was making it easier and safer for cyclists and pedestrians travelling on the famous ferry to explore all that Queenscliff had to offer.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s all about boosting Queenscliff\u2019s active transport network and creating more parking options for local sporting and community groups,\u201d Ms Neville said.
\nIn neighbouring Point Lonsdale, the Labor Government\u2019s investment has also created more than 50 new sealed on-street car parks adjacent to Point Lonsdale Primary School and the community hall along Bowen Road, boosting safety and improving traffic flow during school pick-up and drop-off times.
\nDrainage improvements at Milne Court and Ocean Road in Point Lonsdale will also prevent flooding at this intersection.
\nThe Borough of Queenscliffe received a further $900,000 of funding under round two of Fixing Country Roads to carry out widening and access improvements at the southern end of Queenscliff\u2019s Hesse Street, including two new shared paths, 59 new parking spaces, lighting improvements and upgraded storm water drainage.
