BELLARINE Gospel Jam in Drysdale this weekend will give musicians the chance to come together while raising funds for the town\u2019s local foodbank.
\nHeld this Sunday October 27, St James Anglican Church will host the fundraising event to support the Drysdale Foodbank, which regularly provides food for about 80 families.
\nThe feature artist to kick off the Gospel Jam is Christine Harms.
\n\u201cChristine is a hidden gem in our community,\u201d MaryAnne Gardiner from Belonging Ministries said.
\n\u201cOver the years she has had a prestigious music career having performed and recorded in Nashville and Ohio in the USA.
\n\u201cShe has shared the stage with many well-known Australian artists including Anne Kirkpatrick, Peter Andre, Normie Row and John Williamson.
\n\u201cShe also gave a memorable performance at the Commonwealth People\u2019s Day on Sunday October 7 2001 at Roma Street Parkland, as part of the People\u2019s Reception where the visit from Her Majesty the Queen and His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh took place.
\n\u201cShe has performed for \u2018Sorry Day\u2019 in both Brisbane and Melbourne featuring the well-known indigenous artist Dan Sultan.
\n\u201cChristine is a mature, proud, strong Indigenous woman who provides a role model for younger musicians and performers.
\n\u201cShe readily offers assistance and mentoring to potential performers and teaches singing.
\n\u201cShe has offered her support to Drysdale Family Services who operate the Food bank.\u201d
\nMs Gardiner said the event was a fundraiser and if successful would be continued on a monthly basis.
\n\u201cThe purpose of the Gospel Jam is to provide an opportunity for musicians to join together, have some fun and showcase their skills in a relaxed supportive environment while raising funds for the local Foodbank.\u201d
\nThe event at 45-55 Collins Street will run from 2pm to 5pm and entry costs $10.
