ALL four-year-old kinder groups at Ocean Grove Preschool are treated to weekly music sessions by one of their local preschool educators, Diane Gardner.
\nMs Gardner\u2019s instrument of choice is her voice and she loves to share this passion with her students.
\n\u201cThis is my 25th year of pre school\/early years education and I\u2019ve always shared my love for music and movement,\u201d Ms Gardner said.
\n\u201cI enjoy working with all the children in the centre and I believe I can bring that little extra with me.
\n\u201cI want to learn new songs, movement and music to present to them, it is my passion and I love it!\u201d
\nClasses run for approximately 30 minutes, beginning with a warm-up song with voice and movement.
\nChildren then explore their voices with echo songs accompanied by clapping and body percussion.
\nThey start to discover rhythm and sound. Is it fast or slow? Quiet or loud?
\nMs Gardner also encourages dance and movement, using props such as scarves and simple instruments.
\nThe highly engaging music classes improve the pre-schoolers physical development making them more aware of their voices and their bodies.
\nThis enhances their strength, co-ordination and space perception.
