{"id":28720,"date":"2019-11-07T03:00:52","date_gmt":"2019-11-06T17:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=28720"},"modified":"2019-11-05T12:50:42","modified_gmt":"2019-11-05T02:50:42","slug":"new-group-forms-to-protect-clifton-springs-coastline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/new-group-forms-to-protect-clifton-springs-coastline\/","title":{"rendered":"New group forms to protect Clifton Springs coastline"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>THE Clifton Springs Curlewis area is a hidden gem in Geelong, filled with stunning waters, sandy beaches and iconic views.<br \/>\nTo protect all this beauty, a new Coastcare Group is forming to conserve the values of this section of coastline for future generations.<br \/>\nThe Clifton Springs Curlewis Coastcare Group is holding its first meeting at December 3 at the SpringDale Neighbourhood Centre from 5.30-7pm, and will be electing the members of their volunteer committee of management.<br \/>\nBellarine Catchment Network Program Manager Matt Crawley is working closely with the group and said he was excited by the value it would bring to Clifton Springs and Curlewis.<br \/>\n\u201cWe are very happy to be working alongside members of the local community to help formalise this group,\u201d Mr Crawley said.<br \/>\n\u201cWe welcome anybody to attend the meeting if they have an interest in protecting the Clifton Springs Curlewis foreshore.\u201d<br \/>\nCoastcare Facilitator for the Bellarine Surf Coast Elise Snell said she recognised the importance of this new group for the Bellarine.<br \/>\n\u201cIt is exciting to have this new group establishing as this year we are celebrating 25 years of Coastcare,\u201d Ms Snell said.<br \/>\n\u201cVolunteers play an important role in caring for our coasts and marine environments for current and future generations to enjoy.\u201d<br \/>\nAfter receiving feedback from the local community in Clifton Springs and Curlewis, the Bellarine Catchment Network started the process of formalising the new Coastcare group through the provision of support, co facilitation and resources.<br \/>\nFor more information, or to register your interest in joining, email naomi@bcn.org.au.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Clifton Springs Curlewis area is a hidden gem in Geelong, filled with stunning waters, sandy beaches and iconic views.
