LOCALS paid their respects at Remembrance Day Services across the Bellarine on Monday to all those who died in conflicts.
\nYoung and old attended Remembrance Day services in Ocean Grove, Barwon Heads, Portarlington, Queenscliff, Drysdale, Leopold and Mannerim.
\nLeopold War Memorial Committee chair Keith Pettigrew said he was very happy with the attendance which, he felt, was affected by the fact that Remembrance Day fell on a Monday.
\n\u201cHowever, the weather was ideal and those 150 or so attending, enjoyed the service and a cuppa afterwards.
\n\u201cWe are grateful to the City of Greater Geelong for preparing the memorial surrounds, it looked a treat with the field of crosses honouring those who from the Leopold district died during World War I.\u201d
\nHe said the participation of students from Leopold Primary School was a highlight, and the address from Lieutenant Nick Arundell was very moving when he told of his comrades fighting in Afganistan.
