{"id":28912,"date":"2019-11-21T00:09:16","date_gmt":"2019-11-20T14:09:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=28912"},"modified":"2019-11-20T09:17:41","modified_gmt":"2019-11-19T23:17:41","slug":"nbff-launch","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/nbff-launch\/","title":{"rendered":"Red carpet rolls out for third North Bellarine Film Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The third annual <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northbellarinefilmfestival.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">North Bellarine Film Festival <\/a>(NBFF) attracted large crowds to the three-day event, beginning on Friday (November 15) at Drysdale\u2019s Potato Shed.<\/p>\n<p>More than 100 film buffs from across the Bellarine Peninsula, Geelong, Bendigo, Melbourne and interstate arrived for a red-carpet reception on the opening night.<\/p>\n<p>Festival director Vi Ryall said he was enthusiastic about this year\u2019s program which featured several new attractions including a world premiere film and film award.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe also screened six short films at Federation Square, Melbourne, running simultaneously with the festival on Saturday night (November 16).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe weekend screened six feature films and 40 short films at the Potato Shed &#8211; the festival hub, and at its satellite venue \u2013 the former Portarlington Neighbourhood House \u2013 where an Animation\/Experimental\/Avant-Garde program was presented.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ryall said esteemed film critic David Stratton opened the festival with a video message, and audiences across all sessions were bigger than previous years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have had very positive feedback from our regular supporters and those new to the festival.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tadji Ulrich, a 17-year-old student from Upwey, received the inaugural Emerging Victorian Filmmaker Award for his film <em>When We Were One<\/em>, which screened before the opening night\u2019s feature film <em>The Party<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Black Garden<\/em>, a film made in Geelong and on the Bellarine Peninsula by local filmmakers, Shaun Wilson and Tammy Honey, premiered to a full house.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Ryall said many of the cast and crew attended and took part in a question and answer session after the screening, while this year\u2019s event featured multiple works by women directors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe program also attracted a contingent of filmmakers from Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was curated by local filmmaker David King while other local filmmakers, Taylor Adams, Jesse Leaman and Clive Whitworth had their short films screened over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough the lights have now dimmed on this year\u2019s highly successful event, the festival team is already planning for 2020.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The third annual North Bellarine Film Festival (NBFF) attracted large crowds to the three-day event, beginning on Friday (November 15) at Drysdale\u2019s Potato Shed.
