A PLAYGROUP at Ocean Grove\u2019s Boorai centre has received a grant to improve its members\u2019 nutrition through fresh food and cooking classes.<\/p>\n
Bellarine Community Health\u2019s Health and Wellbeing Fund has given the Boorai Wednesday playgroup a grant for $4000 for its new HEPS (Healthy Eating for Preschoolers) program.<\/p>\n
Communications officer Kate Morrissy said HEPS aimed to improve members\u2019 nutrition through the inclusion of fresh food boxes delivered weekly for morning tea as well as cooking classes twice a term.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis program was designed with consultation of our members and we are all so excited for our kids to get involved with cooking, education and sampling different fresh foods.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis program will begin at the start of term 4 so we invite any parents, grandparents or carers and their kids up to five years old to come along and get involved.\u201d<\/p>\n
Boorai Wednesday playgroup is a not for profit playgroup run by the attending parents.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe strive to be a welcoming environment that allows parents and their preschool aged children to socialise and connect with the local community,\u201d a playgroup spokesperson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe pride ourselves on offering an enriching experience for children and parents with Mini Maestros, Warrior Academy, Boost yoga, craft, themed days and now Sprouts cooking classes all a regular part of our program.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sessions run from 9am to 11am every Wednesday during the school term at the Boorai centre\u2019s community room.<\/p>\n
Cost is $30 per term per family.
\nMembers are required to also hold current Playgroup Victoria memberships.<\/p>\n
