POINT Lonsdale Civic Association president Rob Minty will replace outgoing Borough of Queenscliffe councillor Tony Francis, after he was forced to vacate the position.<\/p>\n

As of November 2019, Mr Francis was no longer eligible for the role after selling his Harry\u2019s Kiosk business and voiding his rate payer status, a Victorian Electoral Commission countback on December 2 resulted in Mr Minty finishing with 360 of 653 available votes.<\/p>\n

Cr Minty beat fellow candidates Peter Russell, David Kenwood and Louis Baker and said he was looking forward to the new role.<\/p>\n

\u201cI stood in 2016, all those who stood were still qualified under the arrangement. My motivation now is still the same as it was then: to ensure projects like the Point Lonsdale lighthouse and the Avenue of Honour are brought to completion,\u201d Cr Minty said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe new mayor Ross Ebbels said there\u2019s a very long list of activities council has been involved in and we want to bring them into fruition, I\u2019m very supportive of that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cr Minty said he has over 25 years\u2019 experience in travel and tourism, as well as photography travelling abroad working across Asia and North America but has always loved the Borough.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s something unique about the Borough. We love the area, there are good people who want to see it remain independent of any other council.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a special place people always come back to, they find it a wonderful place to be and you want to be able to make sure you keep it that way for other people.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been the president of the Point Lonsdale Civic Association<\/a> and a member for many more, we\u2019ve always been active in making sure council is doing the right thing.<\/p>\n

\u201cPolicy and procedures, making sure the process is followed. That\u2019s very important and pretty much what we will continue to do from inside the council.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
