THE inaugural season of the GCA’s women’s division is nearing its end, but the ladder is still far from being decided.<\/p>\n

Highton Durran managed victory in an exceptionally close game against East Belmont Razz, winning by a single run.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Monique Quinn’s 35 and Kisara De Alwis’s unbeaten 32 helped Highton Durran to a total of 7\/128.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Jessica Johnston led the chase for East Belmont Razz, top-scoring with 41.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But the wickets fell throughout their innings, with Quinn following up her performance with the bat by taking 4\/28.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Emma Jondahl finished with figures of 2\/13, with her wicket in the final over giving Highton Durran the win.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

They will head in to the last match-day before finals with two teams only three points behind them and one team just three points ahead of them.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Torquay Black move up into third place in the league as Leopold had to forfeit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Torquay Women’s Cricket co-ordinator Sarah Boak said the new league had been fantastic for the club.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“It’s been a fantastic season. We’ve had so much interest and the way it’s progressed we’ve had more and more interest feeding through.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

“I think it’s really developed women’s cricket and is certainly going to be a really positive move for the future.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

East Belmont Deb came close to ending Ocean Grove’s unbeaten run.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Alana Kot retired not out on 42 as Ocean Grove posted a formidable target of 6\/148.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

But East Belmont Deb’s opening batters made a brilliant start, with Chrissy Walker and Rebecca Farey posting an 82-run partnership.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Ocean Grove were ruthless though, and eventually ran through the rest of East Belmont Deb’s batting order to see them finish 9\/123.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
