CHRISTMAS may have passed but Lorne Football Netball Club recently received a gift when it was announced they would be having a new netball pavilion built.<\/p>\n

Construction of the $6.6 million pavilion will begin this year and is planned to be finished by the end of 2021.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The costs are being split between the Surf Coast Shire council and the federal government.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The club’s netball president Carly Enticott said the new facilities would help accommodate the diverse group of people involved with the club.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
“It’s going to provide all of our participants \u2013 from people aged three to 65 \u2013 with safe, warm and spacious change areas.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
“We’re especially excited it’s going to have multiple functions and provide the wider community with a brilliant facility. Stribling Reserve is the cornerstone of our community and is integral to the health and wellbeing of so many \u2013 from school students to sportspeople to community groups.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
The pavilion will include change rooms for both home and away teams, an accessible toilet, an office, first aid room, umpire amenities and storage. It will also be available for community hire.<\/div>\n

It is being built as part of the Stribling Reserve Pavilions Redevelopment project that council endorsed in 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
Club treasurer and Lorne Ward councillor Clive Goldsworthy said the project would benefit people outside the club too.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
“Both the upgraded netball and main pavilions will provide opportunities for Lorne locals and the wider community to participate in a range of activities, including sports, community events and meetings.”<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
