{"id":31754,"date":"2020-04-23T07:53:44","date_gmt":"2020-04-22T21:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/tenace-plays-his-hand-for-ammos-top-job\/"},"modified":"2020-04-23T08:51:53","modified_gmt":"2020-04-22T22:51:53","slug":"tenace-plays-his-hand-for-ammos-top-job","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/sport\/tenace-plays-his-hand-for-ammos-top-job\/","title":{"rendered":"Tenace plays his hand for Ammos&#8217; top job"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GEELONG Amateur coach Kane Tenace has revealed he is keen to take the reins of the BFL powerhouse in 2021.<br \/>\nWith uncertainty surrounding whether this season will go ahead as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Tenace says conversations with the club around next year are yet to start.<br \/>\nHowever, the former Geelong speedster is keen to build on an impressive 2019, where Ammos surprised many to finish on top of the ladder at the end of the home-and-away season before being knocked out of the premiership race in the preliminary final.<br \/>\n\u201cI think I\u2019d be keen to go again even if we were under way this year,\u201d Tenace said.<br \/>\n\u201cI really enjoyed last year, and for the time up until we got to stay home, I was really enjoying it as well.<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s just a matter of sitting down with the club and working out what\u2019s going to be best for both parties.\u201d<br \/>\nTenace was looking forward to the chance to build on last year\u2019s effort before the start of the season was delayed less than three weeks before Round 1.<br \/>\nHowever, he is now coaching a club remotely, which he admits is a juggling act.<br \/>\n\u201cIt\u2019s something no club has had to deal with before,\u201d Tenace said.<br \/>\nFor us, it\u2019s just about keeping in touch with the players, and not from a coaching point of view; just making sure the players stay in touch.<br \/>\n\u201cWe\u2019ve set up a couple of challenges for the guys to do fitness-wise, so they can keep their fitness up and be ready to go if needed.\u201d<br \/>\nThe former Geelong Cats speedster concedes there is little they can do with players having differing levels of motivation during the shutdown.<br \/>\n\u201cIf training was on and they weren\u2019t showing up you\u2019d tell them they\u2019re playing in the reserves,\u201d Tenace said.<br \/>\n\u201cAt the end of the day, the guys who are going to do the work are going to do it.\u201d<br \/>\n<em>Tom King is the editor of <a href=\"http:\/\/krockfootball.com.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">krockfootball.com.au<\/a>.
