CLIFTON Springs Primary School\u2019s Student Voice has earned it an impressive award and cheque to match.<\/p>\n
The school\u2019s Student Representative Council (SRC) came runners-up for SRC of the Year at the VicSRC Recognition Awards held at Docklands on October 11.<\/p>\n
Deputy Premier James Merlino also presented the school with a $1,000 winner\u2019s cheque, which the students will now choose how to spend.<\/p>\n
Assistant principal Ben McCredden said the school\u2019s entry was based on the amazing work it did in Student Voice.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a variety of student leadership roles throughout the school, but in 2017 we wanted to take Student Voice deeper,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we introduced tools for students to give teachers feedback about their teaching.<\/p>\n
\u201cSurveys, suggestion boxes, feedback stations, and class meetings were all introduced and students set goals for teachers to work on.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis has led to great results.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mr McCredden said other things the SRC had recently achieved was making science a specialist subject at the school, introducing music instead of bells, introducing animals throughout the school (chooks, stick insects, turtles, lizards and birds) and helping design different areas of the school in recent building works.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
