The Rural Adversity Mental Health Program (RAMHP) has spearheaded a new website to help men living in rural communities reach their best possible mental health.<\/p>\n

“You Got This Mate” was designed in consultation with rural men to provide tips on how and why to take action, while connecting those needing support to the relevant services in their local area.<\/p>\n

The website also features videos of rural men sharing their stories as well as how they look after themselves and their mental health.<\/p>\n

In one video, former dairy farmer turned facilitator of “The Unbreakable Farmer” Warren Davies speaks of his challenges with floods, family disputes and the ongoing drought in New South Wales.<\/p>\n

“People living in rural and regional towns don’t have the same access to services that city people have which is why this website is so important,” Mr Davies said.<\/p>\n

“By sharing my story I hope that I encourage others to get help when they need to and if they jump on this website it can help them with some strategies on what they can do now to keep themselves strong.”<\/p>\n

RAMHP co-ordinator Steve Carrigg said feedback from the men’s advisory group demonstrated the need for a website that was visual, easy-to-use and had suggestions on how to spark change.<\/p>\n

“The website also includes a self-help quiz which helps people track how they’re feeling and provides simple steps to take if someone needs additional advice or support.<\/p>\n

“We know that seeking help early gives you a better chance of a quick recovery and reduces your risk of mental health problems in the future.<\/p>\n

“We encourage people to check out this website and share it with a mate.”<\/p>\n
