A FUNDRAISING event at Barwon Heads on the weekend has raised $10,500 to support local Jakara Anthony\u2019s Olympic journey.<\/p>\n
Barwon Grove Golf Club \u2013 also known as the Tin Shed \u2013 hosted the event on Sunday for Jakara, who aims to be selected in the 2018 Australian Olympic Team bound for PyeongChang in South Korea in the sport of mogul skiing.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was awesome!\u201d organiser Marnie Stephens said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSuch a great crowd turned up to support Jakara and her Olympic campaign.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll up we raised $10,500 for her to support her Olympic journey and we couldn’t be happier.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe crowd was very supportive and Jakara, together with her parents Sue and Daryn, and her brother Matt were truly appreciative of everyone’s efforts.\u201d<\/p>\n
Sue said: \u201cWe are very humbled, proud, excited, and so very thankful to our friends, family and our local community \u2013 we can\u2019t thank you all enough\u201d.<\/p>\n
Jakara thanked all who offered their support and was grateful to everyone who donated and attended on the day.<\/p>\n
She said she hopes to make Barwon Heads proud and be selected for the coming 2018 Winter Olympics team.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
