THE Queenscliff Music Festival (QMF) has announced joint winners of its 2020 Foot-in-the-Door competition, with judges unable to recommend either of the two finalists over the other.
\nThe “battle of the bands” style competition supported by FReeZA (a Victoria state government initiative) is usually run as part of the annual festival.
\nHowever, Foot-in-the-Door moved online this year due to coronavirus restrictions and the postponement and eventual cancellation of the 2020 event.
\nEntrants had to upload a new video of their music to YouTube before August 31, and fill in an online application form.
\nFive acts were shortlisted and their videos shown across the QMF social channels in September.
\nQMF received a high calibre of applicants this year, and the industry judging panel found it challenging to separate the two finalists so decided to name both Gabby Steel and Seb Szabo as winners.<\/p>\n

\n“The standard of musicianship is very high from all the artists – they are all deserving of a foot in the door,” one of the judges said.
\nFReeZA supports young Victorians getting involved in their community by planning and running drug, smoke and alcohol-free music and cultural events for other young people.
