{"id":35683,"date":"2020-11-04T15:39:18","date_gmt":"2020-11-04T05:39:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=35683"},"modified":"2020-11-05T13:41:57","modified_gmt":"2020-11-05T03:41:57","slug":"borough-queenscliffe-council-declared","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/news\/borough-queenscliffe-council-declared\/","title":{"rendered":"New Borough of Queenscliff council declared"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A TRIO of first-time councillors have joined two returning councillors to form the new five-seat Borough of Queenscliffe council.<\/p>\n<p>The Victorian Electoral Commission officially declared the result of the council election earlier this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The successful candidates elected to Council are Ross Ebbels, Donnie Grigau, Michael Grout, Susan Slater and Fleur Hewitt.<\/p>\n<p>Borough of Queenscliffe chief executive officer Martin Gill congratulated the new Councillors and thanked all of the candidates who put up their hand for election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019d like to give a warm welcome to the new Councillors, as well as those who are returning,\u201d Mr Gill said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m looking forward to working closely with the new Council as we navigate the impacts of the pandemic, implement the new Local Government Act, and continue to progress a number of important projects.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The VEC announced the result at 4pm today (Wednesday, November 4) at Queenscliff Town Hall.<\/p>\n<p>It followed a period of 43 days since nominations closed for the Borough of Queenscliffe election, where a total of 11 candidates nominated for five vacancies.<\/p>\n<p>For more information on the election, including preferences and voting tallies, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/vec.vic.gov.au\/results\/2020-council-election-results\/queenscliffe-boroughcouncil\">vec.vic.gov.au\/results\/2020-council-election-results\/queenscliffe-boroughcouncil<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A TRIO of first-time councillors have joined two returning councillors to form the new five-seat Borough of Queenscliffe council.
