Jan Juc local India Robinson was crowned the Girls Junior Division winner in the Island Junior Challenge last Friday as part of the Inaugural Phillip Island Pro at Cape Woolamai.<\/p>\n

The event, which aims to reward Victorian surfers for results throughout the year, was held in picture perfect two-foot waves providing a great canvas for high performance surfing.<\/p>\n

India put on a clinic of backhand surfing in playful lefts leading her to victory.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe waves were really fun out there,\u201d India said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt got a bit slow as the tide drained out but it was still fun.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m stoked to win the event; the level of female surfing in Victoria is really great.\u201d<\/p>\n

Placing behind India was Bella Wilson from Jan Juc.<\/p>\n

Indi White also from Jan Juc placed second in the Boys Junior Division, with Kenta Fergusson from Torquay placing fourth.<\/p>\n

The Victorian Indigenous Invitational was comprised of Victorian Indigenous Surfers who had qualified through surfing in the Australian Indigenous Titles at Bells Beach.<\/p>\n

Jordie Campbell from Torquay looked at home in the lefthand waves, convincingly winning the inaugural event.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s awesome to surf against these guys and push each other in the surf,\u201d Jordie said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere were some really fun waves coming through in the final and some great surfing from everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Shaun Squires from Torquay came in third.<\/p>\n

India Robinson moved on from the Girls Junior Division competing in the senior women\u2019s event on Monday too, placing equal third at the inaugural Phillip Island Pro Women\u2019s Champion at Penguin Parade (Summerland Bay).<\/p>\n

India made it to the semi-final finishing with 7.60. She was defeated by eventual winner Piper Harrison. The Coolangatta surfer scored 18.50 in the semi-final.<\/p>\n

The final rounds of the event were relocated from Cape Woolamai to the Penguin Parade due to a large swell and moderate westerly winds.<\/p>\n

The Phillip Island Pro Men\u2019s event was also relocated to Penguin Parade on Tuesday, with Margaret River\u2019s Jacob Wilcox the winner.<\/p>\n
