At 3-8, Anglesea had plenty to do against Jan Juc, but a timely return to form from star batsman Leigh Kentish provided the perfect tonic.<\/p>\n
Kentish had not had the start to the year he would have hoped for, entering the weekend off the back of two ducks. But when his side needed him most he delivered an outstanding 93 to ensure Anglesea was in a strong position in the Bellarine Peninsula Cricket Association A1 clash.<\/p>\n
Anglesea ended its 40 overs at 5-197, with Brett Venables (41*) and Tyron Norman (37) providing some important lower-order hitting. The Roos then bowled Jan Juc out for 157, again it was Kentish doing the damage, taking 3-12, along with Dylan Taylor (3-19).<\/p>\n
Skipper Ned Cooper said it was pleasing to still work its way to a winning position after a troubling start.<\/p>\n
\u201dOur goal is always to get to 180 … anything above that is a positive,\u201d Cooper said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was most pleasing thing, you can\u2019t always be cruising, so to be in trouble and get it up to 200 was really good.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were pretty confident we’d get ourselves back in the game, we think we bat pretty deep.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cooper said there was plenty to improve on, saying the weekend\u2019s efforts with the ball was the \u201cworst in a long time\u201d, unable to find the desired continuity.<\/p>\n
It will be eager to make those improvements ahead of a huge clash against fellow undefeated side Barrabool next weekend.<\/p>\n
In other round four fixtures, Barrabool joins Anglesea at the top of the ladder, only second on percentage. It had little trouble tracking down Collendina’s 6-165. Captain Kane Pickering made 65 at the top of the order as Barrabool posted a six-wicket win to remain undefeated.<\/p>\n
Ocean Grove claimed its first win of the season, defeating St Leonards by four wickets. The victory was setup off the back of a strong bowling display. St Leonards were knocked over for 102 runs after just 22.4 overs, Daniel Roddis taking 3-29.<\/p>\n
Isaac Saunders top-scored with a quick fire 29 to give the Gruibbers their first taste of success in 2020\/21.<\/p>\n
