{"id":3627,"date":"2017-12-11T08:18:44","date_gmt":"2017-12-11T08:18:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=3627"},"modified":"2017-12-11T08:18:44","modified_gmt":"2017-12-11T08:18:44","slug":"path-palate-perfection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/path-palate-perfection\/","title":{"rendered":"Path to palate perfection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Local winery Oakdene has been awarded most successful exhibitor at this year\u2019s Bendigo Bank Geelong Wine Show alongside several other accolades.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Deakin Geelong Waurn Ponds estate was awash with wine connoisseurs ready to sample the best of the regions producers across the October 17-18 weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Oakdene received the show\u2019s coveted Vinvicta Products trophy for the most successful exhibitor alongside three gold medals a silver and seven bronze.<\/p>\n<p>The Seguin Moreau Trophy for best oak matured Chardonnay and the Black Salt Trophy for best Pinot Noir were awarded to Oakdene\u2019s Liz\u2019s Chardonnay and Peta\u2019s Pinot Noir respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Steven Paul from Oakdene Wines said it was a fantastic weekend and a brilliant outcome for the team who had not won a trophy for over a decade at this particular event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve won awards at other shows but the last time we were awarded at the Geelong Wine Show was for our Liz\u2019s Chardonnay back in 2006,\u201d Steven said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo win the gold over 10 years later was fantastic. You walk in and you just never know, even though we were up for a few trophies you could win a few or none.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said the awards were reflective of their outstanding winemakers Robin Brockett and Marcus Holt and the team that is slowly growing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe recently planted a new vineyard taking us from 30 to 80 acres in total.
