{"id":3640,"date":"2017-12-11T08:24:02","date_gmt":"2017-12-11T08:24:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/?p=3640"},"modified":"2017-12-11T08:24:02","modified_gmt":"2017-12-11T08:24:02","slug":"trot-globe-art-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/bellarinetimes\/living\/trot-globe-art-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Trot to the Globe for art show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The annual Winchelsea Art and Photography Show has been growing in strength, with a record number of entries received for the display in the Globe Theatre during the Melbourne Cup weekend from November 3-6.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Due to a successful sponsorship drive, new sponsors, along with previous trusted sponsors, the show is able to offer all entrants an increase in monetary awards.<\/p>\n<p>This year will be the show\u2019s 17th year since it began in 2000 in the Uniting Church Hall.<\/p>\n<p>In 2010, the show, having outgrown the hall, was moved to the historic Globe Theatre, which has recently had a major upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>Opening night will be held tomorrow (November 3) at the theatre in Willis Street, Winchelsea.<\/p>\n<p>Surf Coast Shire councillor Carol McGregor will officially open the show.<\/p>\n<p>Presentation of awards will also be held on Friday night and a light supper served.<\/p>\n<p>The subject of recently-added popular category \u201cMy Winchelsea\u201d must depict something special within a radius of 15 kilometres of the town centre.<\/p>\n<p>This year the show has gained the service of artist Jill Shalless to judge the art section.<\/p>\n<p>Anna Sande will judge the photography section. Anna has had several photographic exhibitions and has also written extensively, including a number of freelance catalogues and articles.<\/p>\n<p>The weekend is shaping up to be a must-see art event to attend, with high quality and standard expected of many local artists from surrounding areas.<\/p>\n<p>Guests will be able to enjoy a Devonshire tea and coffee all weekend while they wander the display.<\/p>\n<p>Entry is $5 with student admission free.
